Tanzanite

elisawerbler.bigcartel/etsy/tiffany

Tanzanite is one of my all-time favourite stones. It's violet-blue radiance illuminates in such a way as to leave you mesmerised and perhaps, intrigued. Although tanzanite is one of the most rarest coloured stones to be found and commercially mined (i.e. in Tanzania), it is also one of the most expensive gemstones. However, that is not to say that all forms of the luscious purple stone cannot be acquired and appreciated. As demonstrated by Elisa Werbler's collection "The Birthstones," it is possible to have that little piece of perfection as a possession. Tiffany & Co., the company that named the relatively soft stone, has also released a line, designed by the talented Elsa Peretti, to give the budget-conscious clients an introduction to tanzanite, named "Color by the Yard". It is now something to be desired, yet attainable.

Cycle Chic

tokyovintagebicycles

In recent times, I have had the strongest urge to get back to nature and re-live the best moments of my youth, the times when I would grab my bike and carelessly roam around the neighbourhood. From what I can remember, the whole ritual was a pretty amazing feeling, almost like a spiritual awakening, allowing you to feel free and on top of the world.

Although times have changed somewhat, the reasoning for a new bike is more practical and justified. For starters, I am incapable of committing to any form of routine when it comes to matters of fitness and exercise.

However, I have turned a new leaf. I am determined to get out there and enjoy my surroundings in an unconventional way, by my standards at least. How will I do this? First of all, I will need to purchase a new bike. One that is stylish, yet functional.

The featured bike is the Avanti Metro 1.0 2013, which is categorised as a hybrid. For those who are reading this looking a bit puzzled, this means that it's a mix between a mountain bike and a road/racer bike. It just so happens that this suits me fine, as I prefer thicker wheels for stability and a comfortable seat for commuting.

I plan to make the purchase in the near future, along with various accessories to enhance the safety and welfare of my soon-to-be transporter.

I just hope that this new habit will transport me back to the glory days of discovering new terrain and perhaps relieve some of the stresses that come with being an adult.
